Liqui designed the Warcradle Studio as a dedicated workspace for the team behind the tabletop games developed by Wayland Games. The studio supports multiple stages of the creative process, from digital design and illustration through to miniature development and gameplay testing, creating an environment tailored to the way game designers actually work.

Designing a Workspace for Game Development.

“A studio environment designed to move seamlessly from digital design to hands-on gameplay testing.”

The studio was carefully planned to support the creative and technical processes involved in developing tabletop games. Sit-stand workstations provide an ergonomic environment for digital design, illustration and game development, allowing designers to move easily between computer work and collaborative discussion.

High collaboration tables were introduced to create space for reviewing prototypes and testing gameplay mechanics. These areas allow the team to move quickly from concept design to physical testing, supporting the iterative process that sits at the heart of modern game development.

“A dedicated miniature painting studio designed to support the craftsmanship behind tabletop game development.”

A key feature of the studio is the dedicated miniature painting area, designed for the head painter responsible for developing and reviewing prototype miniatures. Carefully considered lighting and workspace layout ensure models can be painted and assessed with precision before entering production.

The result is a practical and creative studio environment that supports the full design cycle — from concept and illustration through to prototype testing and refinement — giving the Warcradle team a workspace that reflects the craft, experimentation and technical precision behind tabletop game development.
