EIS CAFE
Dessert Parlour

"Interior and brand working together."

Liqui’s dessert cafe design for Eis Cafe was completed in conjunction with our branding company Crate47 who undertook a subtle brand refresh that tied in perfectly with our minimalist interior design. This was a requirement of the client who wanted the style of the café to contrast with the extravagance of their desserts. With our two companies working in unison like this we are able to offer a joined-up service that results in a harmony between the style of our hospitality design and the visual identity of the brand.

The interior design.

"A dessert parlour with a bold and brutalist interior approach."

The minimalist aesthetic of our dessert cafe design centres on bold, rectangular shapes together with the use of exposed concrete throughout the interior to accentuate the modern, almost Brutalist look. To add visual interest to the cafe interior design, terrazzo tiles have been used for the floor and in specific places on the walls. To slightly soften the overall impression, and add warmth, wood has been introduced into the interior design. This takes the form of cladding on pillars, ceiling supports, and shelving units. Perforated wooden screens have also been used to delineate certain seating areas and break up the space. These echo the brand pattern that Crate47 developed for the branding refresh which also features a simple tight repeat of a geometric shape.

The updated logo design also comes into play embossed into the exposed concrete of the walls and counter. This fairly low-key approach to branding is common to most of our branded interiors and demonstrates how we can subtly integrate brand elements into a commercial interior design resulting in a synergy between the two.

The brand design.

"A subtle refresh across brand, web and print."

Crate47’s brand refresh for Eis Café required a subtle approach that facilitated a smooth transition from the old branding to the new brand update without alienating existing customers. By making a more significant difference between the weights of the two words ‘EIS’ and ‘CAFE’ it strengthened the logo design making it more distinctive.

To offer greater flexibility in the application of the cafe branding a new circular marque has been devised with two variations. The visual identity was further consolidated by the creation of a brand pattern that is used throughout the print design as well as within the dessert cafe design itself. A new website was also developed that showcases the café’s extraordinary desserts with strong visual content.x
