A Contemporary Clubhouse Interior.

"Our aim was to bring the spirit of the game indoors, creating a clubhouse that embodies both the sport and the identity of the club."

When it comes to club design, the challenge lies in creating interiors that feel both aspirational and authentic to their heritage. For our work with Datchet Cricket Club, we set out to redefine what a modern sports club interior could look like: creating a multi-purpose environment that functions as a sports clubhouse, commercial hospitality space, and community events venue, that celebrates the sport through carefully chosen materials, textures and details, while remaining elegant, practical and versatile.

As an interior design agency, we believe that sports clubs should be more than just functional spaces – they should embody the spirit of the game and the community behind it. The Datchet Cricket Club interior design and fit out reflects this philosophy, with a concept built around the idea of “bringing the game indoors”. Every element was designed to immerse members and visitors in the atmosphere of cricket, while providing a sophisticated environment for socialising, dining and relaxation.

A Concept of Future Heritage.

"Beyond the material palette, we wanted the interiors to tell the story of the club itself."

At the heart of the design vision, is the ambition to embed the spirit of cricket into a modern clubhouse refurbishment. The concept draws key inspiration from the game’s traditions while creating an inviting environment for today’s players, supporters, and visitors.

Materiality is presented through warm timber tones that reflect the craftsmanship of wood used within the sport of cricket, while rich green and yellow hues evoke the blazers at the club, and caps of cricketing heritage.

The use of the accent colour Red adds detail, reminiscent of a cricket ball in motion, offering vibrancy and energy.
Wood paneling, inspired by site screens, brings rhythm and depth, while striped wallpaper references the texture of a cricket jumper.

Carefully selected flooring incorporates elements of a quintessential picnic blanket pattern, embedding an English cricket vibe within the sports club interior design.
This design approach ensures the clubhouse feels rooted in tradition yet forward looking, creating a hospitality venue interior that balances elegance with functionality.

Hospitality, Comfort, and Community.

"Careful zoning of space, combined with subtle visual references and texture choices, have helped create a completely unique feel."

The clubhouse was conceived not only as a sports facility but as a versatile venue and function space interior for the wider community. Careful zoning ensures the space supports: Lounging in soft, comfortable seating areas, Socialising around the bar and banquette spaces and Watching the game in relaxed, informal settings.

Whilst working with an existing ceiling/lighting arrangement, we managed to incorporate ambient lighting with wall sconces that refer to the Rich gold tones of the club. Curated furnishings also create a warm, sociable environment, resulting in a hospitality interior equally suited to match days, club events, and private hire, giving the clubhouse a true role as a community function space.

Bespoke Furniture, Joinery & Fit Out.

"For us, it was vital that the bespoke furniture and joinery not only looked the part but also worked seamlessly within the space."

As part of Liqui’s bespoke joinery and furniture design services, the team created custom pieces to enhance both the aesthetic and practical needs of the interior. These included a banquette seating area, designed, built, and installed to provide a communal focal point, and bespoke bar display and storage case, manufactured by Liqui Contracts, combining refined craftsmanship with practical usability

These elements ensure consistency across the design, highlighting Liqui Group’s expertise in delivering custom furniture design as part of complete commercial hospitality interiors.

Briggs & Co. played an essential role in the delivery of the interior fit out, undertaking the bar build, completing surface finishes, and managing the installation of artwork displays. Their craftsmanship also extended to the construction of the site screen inspired wall cladding, ensuring Liqui’s design intent was faithfully realised.

Bathroom and Changing Room.

"Carrying the concept through to the bathroom and changing room, ensured players and members alike, feel that same sense of identity and pride."

Liqui extended the Future Heritage concept into the bathroom interiors adjoining the changing rooms, maintaining a sense of continuity and quality across the clubhouse facilities. Material palettes, finishes, and detailing were designed for consistency, ensuring every space embodies the same design language.

In the home team changing room, Crate47 designed and produced bespoke wallpaper featuring dynamic visuals and motivational mantras from the head coach. This branded interior creates an inspiring environment that connects directly with the team’s identity and performance.
