Liqui Design were briefed to deliver the office reception area design and fit-out for Coventry City Football Club’s offices on Level 2 at the CBS Arena. The space forms a shared welcome for colleagues and visitors to both the Club and the Arena, reflecting the city they represent, and its cultural and sporting heritage. The project also forms part of a wider series of works Liqui and in-house branding agency, Crate47, have delivered across the Arena.
As part of our growing portfolio of commercial interior design in Coventry, the design draws together the city’s cultural narrative: its influential Two-Tone musical legacy, and CCFC’s new “Motor City FC” identity, rooted in Coventry’s automotive engineering heritage.
Within a bespoke display case, a saxophone and a classic electric guitar mirror a curated collection of vinyl records that sit on custom made shelves. These iconic items reference Coventry’s musical story on two levels: the Arena’s own history as a stage for major touring artists, including Take That, Oasis, the Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Ed Sheeran and Tom Grennan, and the city’s own influential 2 Tone legacy, pioneered by Coventry bands such as The Specials. Together, they translate Coventry’s musical identity into a tactile, collectible display rather than literal memorabilia.
Alongside these cultural references, the scheme responds directly to CCFC’s new “Motor City FC” identity, a rebrand shaped by Coventry’s automotive heritage. A bespoke coffee table built from a genuine engine block gives this narrative its most literal expression, translating the Club’s forward-looking identity into the physical language of the reception through materials and detailing that draw on ideas of precision engineering and performance. This is paired with a collection of Motorsport memorabilia within the illuminated custom made display case next to the bespoke curved reception desk.
At the heart of the reception area sits a bespoke, curved reception desk, created entirely in-house from initial concept through to manufacture at our own workshop. As office and commercial fit-out specialists, our interior team then installed the desk on site, alongside the illuminated column that anchors the space and all of the reception’s bepoke joinery and cabinetry.
Chairs, the sideboard, and the display pieces and artwork were carefully procured to complete the scheme, a combination of bespoke making and considered procurement that reflects how we work on every project, from concept through to completion.
The material palette is rooted in CCFC’s brand blue, used across the walls, with the reception desk finished in laminates matched to the Club’s colours. An architectural metal wrap sits behind the desk, reinforced by perforated metal sheeting and a concrete-effect floor finish, while the columns are wrapped in LED feature lighting that nods to automotive workshops and garages.
Together, these choices tie the sporting, musical and manufacturing references into a single, coherent scheme, a characterful space that feels genuinely connected to Coventry, giving colleagues and visitors alike a shared sense of arrival at both the Arena and the Club.
