Liqui’s office refurbishment of the Airbus Business Centre is contemporary but respectful of the building’s heritage, with No.4 Hamilton Place, Mayfair, being home to the Royal Aeronautical Society for over 80 years.

The centre is a satellite extension to the main Airbus offices on The Strand, and our remit was to create a modern office design that was not only sympathetic to it’s prestigious surroundings, but welcoming and comfortable; suitable for getting together with their clients and holding meetings.

A workplace design focused on wellbeing for both employees and clients.

"A carefully curated workspace design, from layout, lighting and furniture, to bespoke artwork that features throughout the office interior.

With the brief in mind, our approach was to give the interior a more ‘domestic’ feel with the choice of decoration, furniture and lighting. One seemingly small alteration that our office refurbishment made to the Business Centre, was to change all of the recessed ceiling lights throughout the rooms, from cool white to warm white. This gives the appearance of filtered daylight rather than the almost blue light that existed before, and makes a big impact on the overall appearance of the offices as they are situated in the basement of the building.

Another way in which we’ve transformed the whole space is by carefully curating artwork for all the walls throughout the office refurbishment. We selected and cropped images from the Airbus photographic archive, and had them printed and mounted in the style and size of our choosing before installing them in their appropriate places. This not only puts the client’s business at the heart of the workspace design, but gives continuity to all the various office interiors.

A flexible boardroom with custom made flip-top tables.

In the Boardroom, our office designers procured upholstered armchairs with natural wood legs that compliment our newly installed flip-top tables that are also movable allowing the room to be divided in two with fold-out screens when needed. Like the chairs, the coffee station we procured had a more ‘domestic’ look than might normally be found in an office refurbishment to help create a warmer atmosphere.

Liqui also designed, manufactured and fitted a decorative wood panel with acoustic properties for the wall behind the flat TV screen. To retain an element of branding we created a 3-dimensional Airbus logo in individual brushed steel letters mounted on the wall.

Balancing bespoke furniture with interior branding.

For the Business Suite’s office design we installed our Theodore desks together with procured swivel office chairs. We sized the artwork to fit proportionally within the wall recesses and had the Airbus logo cut into a new frosted manifestation on the glass doors which has not only helped to separate the room from the hallway but has elevated the interior branding.

Central to the Meeting Room is the bespoke round table we designed and manufactured with hidden cable management and a tabletop ‘pluck-out’ for access. This was combined with the same upholstered chairs as used in the boardroom. We also procured and installed a large whiteboard and another tea/coffee station.

In contrast to the rest of the office refurbishment, we’ve chosen a calming dark blue for the walls of the lounge to help make the space more intimate. The wood-framed armchairs, small coffee table, round rug, and tea/coffee station were all procured by us and chosen to create a comfortable, almost cosy space that’s conducive to quiet discussion or relaxation. We’ve also combined two of our own Clement acoustic pod sofas with one of our Georgie tables to provide an even more private area within the room.

The dark blue from the lounge has also been used on the recessed lower third of the walls in the hallway to make it more welcoming and less clinical. The artwork has been chosen to engage visitors and lead them into the various rooms that make up the office refurbishment.
